Bahamas winning fight against human trafficking

The Bahamas has upheld the top position in the fight against human trafficking for the third consecutive year. The islands have maintained the Tier 1 Ranking in the Trafficking in Persons Report, which reflects the government’s efforts to reduce the crime through protection for victims and the prosecution of traffickers, according to U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Lisa Johnson. For the last five years Bahamas has been a pit stop for international domestic slavery, low-wage labor and prostitution, but the tougher laws have crack down on several operations.
