Thousands of Barbadians took to the streets of the country’s capital, Bridgetown, in protest of the 2017/2018 budget on Monday.
The budget calls for a tax increase on services and goods by 8 percent.
Four trade unions on the island organized the protest in an effort to urge the Prime Minister Freundel Stuart to reconsider the change.
Barbadian authorities estimate that 20,000 people attended the protest.
