WZOP/WZPP, the VOICE FM received an honorary award for its contribution to the Caribbean-American community Monday.
Lauderhill officials presented a proclamation commemorating the radio station for its work and contribution to the Caribbean-American Diaspora.
June is Caribbean-American Heritage Month, and Lauderhill is home to one of the largest Caribbean-American communities in Florida.
“With the inclusion of so many Caribbean cultures in Lauderhill, we are grateful for willing partners and organizations that extend a hand and add value to our city,” city officials said in a joint statement.
A virtual ceremony took place during the Lauderhill commission meeting Monday.
“During this pandemic, your organization has demonstrated great courage and fortitude by giving patrons a safe way to stay engaged,” officials said. “Your contribution to society in the midst of an uncertain and lamented time is worthy of recognition.”
